The Dover Art League is excited to invite the community to celebrate an impressive showcase of student artwork featured in the Holden Gallery. This exhibit highlights an extraordinary variety of creative works from students ranging from 1st grade to college level, with submissions representing a wide array of talent from across the state of Delaware. Visitors won’t want to miss this vibrant celebration of young artistic talent.

The exhibit came to life through an open call for submissions, inviting student artists from local schools and colleges (Campus Community and Delaware State University), as well as individual young artists from different regions of the state. By offering students the opportunity to display and sell their work, the Dover Art League hopes to inspire them to continue pursuing their artistic passions and to develop confidence in their unique creative voices.

Dedicated to fostering community engagement through the transformative power of the arts, the Dover Art League provides classes, workshops, and events for artists of all ages. This commitment aims to spark creativity, nurture talent, and build lasting connections within the community.

Members of the Wilmington Children’s Chorus are hard at work preparing for their upcoming holiday concert series, Go Tell It, which features gospel music to celebrate the season! WCC’s Performing Choirs (a traditional community children’s chorus) and Neighborhood Choirs (satellite choirs at local schools and community centers) have been pulling together this season’s songs since September. They will share messages of joy, hope, and resilience with gospel favorites by Kirk Franklin, Norman Hutchins, Byron Cage, Margaret Wells Allison, Johnathan Alvarado, Norah Duncan IV, and Anthony Brown & group therAPy, along with arrangements by John W. Work, André Thomas, and Stanley Thurston. The beautiful “Harambee (A Kwanzaa Song)” by Baltimore’s own Ama Chandra, will share the meaning and symbols of Kwanzaa. WCC will be joined by guest instrumentalists Steven Page on keyboard and Jonathan Whitney on percussion.

This is all part of WCC’s year-long concert series, “American Harmony”, which focuses on American history though a lens of Black music. Choristers are spending the year learning about spirituals, gospel, jazz, soul, and contemporary arts forms like Hip-Hop and Rap, and exploring the ways Black music both tells the story of America and informs our culture.

The Wilmington Children’s Chorus is the nation’s only tuition-free community children’s choir. Their mission is to empower young people to change their world through music and their programming connects them with over 700 children, ages 6 weeks old through 18 years old throughout the Greater Wilmington region.
